Catherine Ndereba is a retired marathon runner renowned for her remarkable achievements in long-distance running. She is a four-time Boston Marathon champion and a two-time Chicago Marathon winner. Ndereba clinched silver medals in the marathon at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, becoming Kenya’s first female multi-medallist. She also secured gold medals at the World Championships in Athletics in 2003 and 2007. In 2001, she set a world record at the Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:18:47.
